The roof is on fire.

This is the roof of an apartment complex I lived in. The rooms were studio, small and boxy but I liked it coz I didn't need much. In the weekends I used to watch the drunken teenages march past like a mass protest on acid. I ate from the local stores and there was a vege market around the corner I was fond of. Sometimes I used to sit on the roof and watch the world go by. You get a great 360 degree view and none of the other tenants could be bothered walking up the stairs. But Lia did. I've got a lot of time for Lia. She was one of the first models I shot and I would say we are close friends even if we don't see each other for long periods of time. Model - Lia Forrest

I changed my shooting style for this shoot. I can see it working with retail. The desaturated look and her chill pose and the white in the sky which was intentionally blown out because pretty blue was too...pretty. Model - Lia Forrest

These blue doors are famous. They are attached to a studio at Trentham Racecourse run by my friend Porio Maka-Kea. I used to have half of the studio but have since moved on. These doors have been shot by many photographers over the years. This was my turn with Alex. I'll never forget that Alex insisted we shoot outside. After shooting in studio for a little while and heading out I saw her blossom and my favorite photo from the shoot was this one. Model - Alexandra McEwen Coat - Courtesy of Vanessa Forlong

Countdown Supermarket Newtown Is where you will find this location. I had it in my head for years but never got tried it. Brittany and I were going up and down and up and down... When the doors opened we just stood there staring at the shoppers laughing and went back down, or back up until we had our photos. I thought how the light bounced around with the silver shiney was awesome. It was a great day and so much fun. These are some of the reasons I love fashion photography. Model - Brittany Gilchrist
